A number of car dealerships in the Kingdom said that the decision of the Ministry of Commerce to oblige agents and suppliers to provide spare parts, provide the necessary maintenance, and ensure the quality of manufacture will raise the prices of cars and spare parts.
For his part, Ali Hussein Reda, Managing Director of Haji Ali Hussein Reda Company, said that the new decision holds the agent responsible for the manufacturer’s mistakes, and that the manufacturers will not compensate them for the expenses they incur as a result.
As for the regional director of “Kia Al-Jabr” company in the central region, Engineer Turki Al-Jasser, he indicated that the provision of spare parts in a very short period costs the agencies additional amounts, and thus will lead to an increase in the prices of spare parts during the coming period as a result of the additional cost.
While the head of the car dealership committee in the Council of Saudi Chambers, Faisal Abu Shusha, explained, according to “Okaz”, that the Ministry of Commerce was addressed regarding developments in the decision and its negative consequences that may face agents and negatively affect the market and not the agent alone.
It should be noted that yesterday, Tuesday, the implementation of the Ministry of Commerce’s decision to impose penalties on all agents and distributors who are not committed to providing spare parts, providing the necessary maintenance, ensuring the quality of manufacture and the conditions set by producers, whether electrical or electronic devices, as well as vehicles.
