News reports stated that Hyundai Motor Company decided to recall more than 100,000 luxury “Genesis” cars due to a defect in the brake system that could lead to accidents.

The South Korean “Yonhap” news agency quoted the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as saying that the recall includes 103,214 Genesis cars that were produced from December 24, 2007 to March 16, 2012.

The company said in a press release that the recall process comes after the ministry confirmed that the anti-lock braking system in the car may be exposed to rust, and may cause the brake system to fail.

The ministry said that owners of Genesis cars can change the brake systems of their cars at Hyundai service centers across South Korea, starting Thursday.

The recall includes 27.5 thousand Genesis cars in the American market.
