To “avoid confrontation” with the security authorities, stressing that they will follow up on their demand to drive without specifying October 26 as a symbolic date for the campaign.

Activists said, according to “Ajel” newspaper, that they had received invitations from the Ministry of Interior asking them not to get behind the wheel today, and that out of respect for that, and as a precautionary step, they demanded not to challenge the driving ban and to turn the initiative into an open campaign.

While the writer and academic, Dr. Noura Al-Saad, accused the activists calling for Saudi women to drive, of being supported by a “Zionist” man, for whom a video clip was posted on YouTube, revealing the secrets of what has become known as the “October 26 Campaign.”

Al-Saad asked, in successive tweets on her account on the social networking site “Twitter” yesterday, whether the reason for the activists’ decline was due to the exposure of their supporters, the warnings of the Ministry of Interior, or their failure to convince most segments of women of the feasibility of their demands.
