Car theft tops the list of economic crimes in the Kingdom, and bribery is the latest

A study issued by Prince Nayef University for Security Sciences revealed that car theft topped the list of economic crimes in the Kingdom. Followed by the crimes of burglary homes and then theft of shops.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, embezzlement crimes ranked first in economic crimes against public order, and fourth in terms of economic crimes as a whole. Counterfeiting crimes came in second place, while bribery crimes were recorded as the least prevalent type of economic crime in Saudi society.

While security statements blamed car owners for being negligent and leaving their cars open or running, the study showed the absence of anyone who has the ability to prevent car theft and home theft, as a result of the change in the pattern of activities among Saudi families, such as the increase in women’s exit rates to study and work, and the increase in The rate of travel, as well as the large number of valuable assets in homes, and the number of modern cars scattered within residential neighborhoods.

The study recommended adopting some measures that could limit the spread of these crimes, calling for intensifying security control during work and study periods (from 7 am to 4 pm), activating the role of the mayor within the neighborhoods, in addition to educating the population, strengthening the ties of neighborliness and encouraging self-control factors among Community members towards their personal property.

The study also recommended the expansion of government loans, as they indirectly contribute to reducing the chances of committing economic crimes in Saudi society.
