Riyadh Municipality has suspended the application of the car parking requirements system for some commercial activities
The Mayor of the Riyadh Region, Tariq Al-Faris, issued a circular to all public agencies, departments, and sub-municipalities in Riyadh, to cancel the decision of the Riyadh Development Authority, which stipulates the implementation of the parking requirements system for some specific commercial activities.
The circular indicated that the suspension of the decision of the Riyadh Development Authority came based on what the Riyadh Municipal Council raised regarding the damages resulting from its implementation and the difficulty of that at the present time.
It includes critical commercial establishments: “restaurants, including fast food, cafes, hotels, furnished apartments, schools and institutes, medical centers and clinics, sports centers and halls, luxuries, and facilities that exceed 900 square meters.”
The circular also indicated the directive of the Mayor of Riyadh to raise lands that are suitable for public parking projects in critical areas. This is to conduct traffic studies on them and put them up for investment.
