China has conducted tests on an electromagnetic gun, which is intended for riot control, and has a lower sound, lower recoil rate and bursting flame, and does not cause fatal injuries.
Li Fengqiao, an official at the Zhongqiang Jinchai Industries Company, explained that the gun uses 9 coils of wire to accelerate the projectiles, and does not launch conical projectiles like ordinary bullets, but rather flat projectiles such as coins.
