Ford recalls 1.4 million cars due to steering wheel problems

Ford Motor Company announced the recall of 1.4 million vehicles in North America due to steering wheel problems.

The company said, in a statement reported by the Associated Press, that the targeted cars are Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models from 2014 to 2018.

The company added that the problem is related to the possibility of loosening the screws (screws) that secure the steering wheel over time.

She indicated that she knew of two collisions and one injury as a result of that problem.

She added that those screws will be replaced with longer ones, and they will be fixed in ways that make them unbreakable.

She explained that the owners of the targeted cars will be notified via e-mail, starting next April 30, and the required spare parts will be provided by that time.

The company announced the withdrawal of one million and 300 thousand cars in the United States and the remaining number (100 thousand) from Canada and Mexico.

The recall decision came after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States opened an investigation over steering wheel problems in 2014-2016 Ford Fusion cars.
