Which is better in the car… the turbo engine or the supercharged engine?

Many cars rely on turbocharged and supercharged engines, but which is better? What is the difference between the two types?

Similarities
In explaining the two engines, the Muscle Car Zone website said that the turbo and super engines work with the same mechanism, which is pumping air into the cylinders, and the result is that the vehicle gets more power.

Both types of modern superchargers increase engine power by up to 50 percent. The ratio varies from one car to another. The lowest percentage is 30 percent.

The main difference
The main difference between the two types is that the turbocharger derives its power from the exhaust gases resulting from combustion, while the supercharger relies on the crankshaft.

The turbocharger is not directly connected to the engine, and has a device to reduce exhaust, which reduces carbon emissions, while the supercharger is connected directly to the engine through a belt, and the exhaust is emptied directly from it.

The turbine speed of the supercharger reaches fifty thousand revolutions per minute, while the turbocharger registers a much higher number of revolutions.

There are dual engines (turbo and super), where the super helps generate power when the number of revolutions (RPM) is low, while the turbo takes over when the number of revolutions is high.

But which is better?
The car produces exhausts, and these exhausts operate the turbine, which pushes the air compressor to compress the air in the engine, so the turbo is “more efficient”, since it does not require more effort.

The turbo engine is also more efficient because it takes advantage of wasted energy, and increases engine power by a large margin without any increase in weight, which is the reason for the spread of this type of engine.

Indeed, the difference between the two engines in driving varies from situation to situation, and depends on preferences and personal experience, and today, some companies use both to obtain the maximum possible power at the lowest costs.
