An Indian official empties two million liters of water from a dam to retrieve his phone

An Indian official decided to empty a huge dam of water so that he could recover his phone, which fell from it in the dam while taking a selfie, so the Indian authorities decided to stop it.

According to media reports, the official ordered the draining of water from the Kharta Dam in Chhattisgarh state in central India, considering that his phone contains sensitive government data that must be retrieved.

It took 3 days to empty the dam of the water stored inside, to find that the phone was broken and could not work again after it was submerged in water for a long time.

The official issued a statement confirming that the pump was brought in after the divers failed to find the phone, indicating that he had obtained verbal permission from an official to drain “some water into a nearby aqueduct”.

Sources revealed that nearly two million liters of water were released – enough to irrigate 6 square kilometers (600 hectares) of farmland.
