Carriers of toxins.. A study warns of recycled plastic food packaging
A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of “Cambridge” in Britain warned against the use of food containers and bags made of recycled plastic. This is because they transfer hundreds of dangerous toxins and harmful chemicals to foods when they come into contact with them.
The study indicated, according to the British newspaper, The Guardian, that recycled plastics transmit hundreds of dangerous toxins, such as “styrene, benzene, bisphenols, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates,” which may increase the chance of developing very serious diseases.
She added that materials made of “polyethylene terephthalate” plastic increase the chance of accumulation of these toxins, which are transmitted directly to foodstuffs, especially those materials that have undergone “illegal” recycling processes.
