The Future Investment Initiative conference, which started today and will continue until Thursday at the King Abdulaziz Conference Center in Riyadh, witnessed the emergence of the “Lucid Air” electric car, in which the Public Investment Fund recently invested more than one billion dollars.
A senior executive of Lucid Motors said in an interview with Argaam on the sidelines of the conference that his company will direct the billion dollars invested by the fund in the company to finance the acceleration of car production, in addition to the launch of the Lucid Air car in 2020.
Regarding the company’s plans to launch the car in the Saudi market, Derek Jenkins, the company’s vice president of design, confirmed that there is a great opportunity to launch the “Lucid Motors” car in the Kingdom and the Middle East region, given the climate that suits electric cars in establishing the charging infrastructure.
More than a month ago, the Public Investment Fund signed an agreement worth more than one billion dollars with the company “Lucid Motors”, which specializes in the production of electric cars.
