A recent study warns of the dangers of a common artificial sweetener

A recent study conducted at North Carolina State University revealed the danger of a common artificial sweetener found in certain foods and beverages such as diet soda and chewing gum.

The study indicated that “sucralose” is capable of damaging DNA, which carries the genetic code that controls how human bodies grow and maintain; Which means it can cause multiple health problems.

And the “Science Alert” website reported that the study confirmed that “sugar substitutes” caused the breakdown of DNA strands, increases in the activity of genes related to inflammation, oxidative stress and cancer, in addition to damage to the lining of the gastrointestinal tract.

Those concerns prompted the researchers to call on food standards agencies to review the safety and regulatory status of the sugar substitute and stop “taking sucralose and consuming anything that contains it”.
