Director General of Traffic: Developing a new vehicle insurance mechanism that serves the citizen’s interest

The Director of the General Traffic Department, Major General Abdullah Al-Zahrani, revealed that specialized committees have begun a study to develop a mechanism for vehicle insurance, in a way that serves the interest of the citizen.

He added that the study of the insurance mechanism is carried out under the guidance and follow-up of the Crown Prince and Minister of the Interior, Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, indicating, according to “Al-Riyadh” newspaper, that the various authorities involved in insurance affairs are participating in the preparation of the study.

He explained that the Traffic Department is currently working on a study to develop the traffic system and the penalties imposed on violators, in addition to setting up a tight mechanism in coordination with the National Information Center and the Ministry of Finance to ensure that Gulf and transit cars pay their fines before leaving the Kingdom.

In another context, the Director General of Traffic indicated that the implementation of banning any Gulf or transit car from leaving through the Kingdom’s ports will soon begin unless all traffic violations are paid. He explained that work is currently underway with the National Information Center and the Ministry of Finance to complete the operating mechanism in all outlets.
