Study: A substance in energy drinks may slow down aging

A recent American study, conducted at Columbia University, revealed “unexpected” benefits in some elements of energy drinks.

The researchers explained that taurine, which is found in energy drinks, slowed aging in experimental mice and made them healthier.

Study leader Dr. Vijay Yadav said it would likely be very difficult to know whether humans would live longer, but at least we could check whether they lived healthier for longer, which of course is the goal of medicine.

The study indicated that the mice that were given “taurine” had denser bones, stronger muscles, better memory, and a younger immune system, compared to those that did not receive the compound.
