4 children were found alive after they disappeared for 40 days in the Amazon jungle

In the Colombian Amazon, today (Saturday), 4 children, between the ages of one and 13 years, were found alive after they had been lost in the jungle for 40 days after surviving the crash of a small plane that was carrying them.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro said: The children “were alone, and succeeded in steadfastness on their own,” noting that survival for this period will be recorded in history, while General Pedro Sanchez, who led the search to find the children, described it as a “miracle.”

Details indicate that the children are descendants of the indigenous Witoto tribes and have been lost in the bush since a plane carrying them with their mother, relative and pilot crashed on the first of May, and the three adults died and their bodies were found at the scene of the accident.

Pictures released by the army show the children, amidst the dense vegetation, sitting on a tarpaulin, surrounded by soldiers and indigenous people offering them food and drink.

More than 100 soldiers with sniffer dogs and dozens of citizens participated, and satellite technology was used to try to locate the children.

The chances of children surviving were decreasing day by day, in this very difficult environment that is a breeding ground for tigers and predators.
