Entered “Guinness” .. the eradication of the largest kidney stone in the world

Military doctors in Sri Lanka removed the largest and heaviest kidney stone in the world from the body of a retired soldier, thus entering the Guinness Book of Records.

The Sri Lankan army said that the operation was performed on a 62-year-old former soldier, who removed the kidney stone, which weighed 801 grams, more than five times the weight of a medium-sized male kidney.

He showed that the length of the stone was 13.37 centimeters, while the average length of a normal kidney does not exceed 10 to 12 centimeters.

And the Guinness Book of Records adopted this kidney stone as the largest and has become the current record holder, as the previous record was for a kidney stone of 620 grams, in Pakistan in 2008.

The retired soldier told a local TV channel that he had been suffering from abdominal pain since 2020, and that the medications prescribed had no effect.

It is noteworthy that kidney stones consist of mineral salts that accumulate in the kidney, an organ that cleans the blood.
