The Astronomical Society in Jeddah confirmed the association of the waning crescent moon at dawn today (Friday) with the Pleiades star cluster on the eastern horizon of the sky of the Arab world before sunrise.

The head of the association, Eng. Majid Abu Zahra, explained that the Thuraya cluster or the Seven Sisters cannot be seen with the naked eye from inside cities due to light pollution, but it can be seen easily when pointing the telescope towards the moon.

He added that the Pleiades cluster can be easily seen when the telescope is directed towards the moon, as it will appear in the field of view or through or digital imaging, and it is similar to the stars of the Little Dipper, except that it is blurry in appearance.
