Volkswagen recalls 270,000 cars due to airbag risks

The German Volkswagen Group recalled more than 270,000 cars due to security risks in the airbags.

The group confirmed, today (Monday), that this is related to a new segment of models that have front airbags installed, which could lead to an uncontrolled deployment of the airbags and the release of metal fragments.

In the past period, different countries witnessed many accidents of the group’s cars, some of which were serious, as 4.9 million cars were previously recalled due to the possibility of defective airbags.

A spokesman for the group confirmed that the current recalls apply to cars delivered in hot countries in Latin America.

While the Federal Motor Vehicle Office in Germany stated that the recall applies to certain versions of the Golf, Passat, Focus, Savero pick-up, and the Brazilian Voyage limousine produced between 2013 and 2017.
