The Food and Drug Authority warned of 5 common mistakes that affect the validity of cosmetic products, make them lose their efficacy, and expose them to bacteria.
The authority explained these errors, which are not cleaning hands and tools such as makeup brushes and sponges before use, which leads to contamination of the product with bacteria, mixing products with each other or adding water to them, which reduces the effectiveness of preservatives, and thus speeds up the expiry of the product’s validity period.
She added that failure to close the product tightly immediately after use makes the product exposed to air, and therefore it may lose its effectiveness and be exposed to bacteria or fungi, and sharing cosmetic products with others, and not adhering to the storage conditions in them by the manufacturer, are also among the mistakes that must be avoided in order to preserve products safety.
