A US regulator said that electric car maker Tesla has recalled 578,607 vehicles in the United States because pedestrians may not be able to properly hear the warning sounds of an approaching car due to loud music or other sounds produced by the powerful radio and music feature in it.
Tesla has issued 10 US recalls in the past four months, including four in the past two weeks.
The Texas-based company is under increasingly intense scrutiny from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Tesla said it is not aware of any accidents, injuries or deaths related to the problem that caused the latest recall.
This recall includes some 2020-2022 model S, X, and Y models and 2020-2022 model 3 models because the “music player function” allows sounds to be emitted from external speakers while the vehicle is in motion, which may result in jamming the pedestrian warning system.
This week, Tesla recalled 26,681 vehicles over a software bug that could lead to problems with defrosting windshields.
Tesla told US regulators that the error could cause a valve on the heat pump to open inadvertently, trapping refrigerant inside the vaporizer. Tesla will make a software update to address the problem.
