Today (Friday), the World Health Organization (WHO) warned of the dangers of skin-lightening products, stressing that they pose a health risk.
The organization stressed that many skin-lightening products contain mercury and other chemicals that pose a health risk, adding that mercury may cause kidney damage, neurological disorders and other health effects.
The organization called on women not to use skin-lightening products, calling on countries to take measures to ban the use of mercury in these products.
