The director of the apiary department at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Tabuk, Eng. Youssef Al-Hwaiti, revealed that the number of beekeepers in the region has reached 116 beekeepers, producing about 44 thousand kilos annually through 26.6 thousand hives.

He explained that the types of honey in the region that depend on different sources of nectar in its mountains, valleys and deserts vary between clover honey, acacia, sidr, eucalyptus and citrus, in addition to “moringa” honey, which is one of the most prominent products produced in the region.

The Apiaries Department provides beekeepers and honey producers with many activities to support them, including holding training courses, workshops, lectures and guidance seminars for beekeepers in a way that suits the needs and conditions of the beekeeper.

The specialists also carry out field visits and introduce the beekeeper to modern methods of beekeeping, detect diseases and pests that affect honey and apiaries, and control that focuses on biomechanical techniques and the introduction of good practices in breeding.
