Tesla has unveiled a supercharging route along China’s Silk Road, through a promotional video on Twitter, retweeted by the company’s CEO, Elon Musk.
According to Bloomberg, drivers will be able to travel to tourist attractions in China without worrying about their cars losing power, as charging stations are vital to promoting electric cars.
The route – which the company claims is the longest supercharging route in China – extends about 5,000 km across China from east to west, includes 27 electric vehicle charging stations, and covers 9 cities from the eastern coastal hub of Zhoushan to the western city of Horgos.
Thus, a charging station is available every 100 to 300 km on the Silk Road, and drivers can charge their cars to travel a distance of 250 km in just 15 minutes, if the weather conditions are supportive.
It is noteworthy that “Tesla” has a factory in Shanghai and sells thousands of cars per month in China, which is the largest market for electric cars in the world, so it is a vital market for the American company, and “Tesla” also built about 840 charging stations in the country, and more than 65 thousand poles. Supercharge covers more than 310 cities.
