A self-driving flying taxi resembling a drone has flown in the sky of Singapore on an experimental basis, carrying a passenger for the first time in the skies of Singapore before launching on regular flights within two years.

One of the pilots boarded the Volocopter Flying Taxi to experience and identify possible vulnerabilities and concerns. This flying vehicle was equipped with eighteen boosters, with space inside to accommodate two passengers and their luggage.

This comes as the Singaporean authorities prepare to launch a self-driving flying taxi service near tourist sites such as Marina Bay, aiming to attract tourists and ease traffic congestion in major cities.

The Volocopter’s flight was delayed for a while by rain in Singapore, but after that the flying craft glide smoothly between skyscrapers.

The company “Volocopter”, which developed the flying drone, had conducted similar experiments in Dubai, Finland, Germany and “Las Vegas” in the United States, but this was the first time in Singapore.
