Mercedes-Benz unveiled a modified version of the GLC 300 for the next year 2020, with the German company’s latest technology, bolder design and a larger engine.
The Motor Authority website said that the car, which will be launched at the Geneva exhibition scheduled for March, has received updates that bring it closer to its older sister, the GLE-Class.
The car, which competes in the luxury small crossover category, received a set of new components, including front and rear bumpers, a front grille, and LED headlights front and rear.
Inside, Mercedes adds to the new car its latest infotainment system, MBUX, which relies on a 10.3-inch touchscreen display that can be controlled via the steering wheel, gesture, voice or console.
This system is the same installed in the GLE 2020 and A-Class 2020, and is compatible with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto operating systems.
As for the 2.0-liter turbo engine, it received an additional power of 14 horsepower, bringing it to 255 horsepower in total, and the car will operate with two rear or four-wheel drive systems via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes said the modified engine is more fuel-efficient than the previous engine, but measurements of the new engine’s consumption level have not yet appeared.
Mercedes equipped the new car with its latest capabilities in safety features, including sensors to monitor the invisible area, a frontal collision warning system, automatic brakes, cruise control, and automatic lane change.
Also among the equipment are air suspension, automatic climate control and head-up display.
The company did not disclose the price of the new car that will appear on the market in late 2019, but it is expected that it will not differ much from the current version, which is about $42,000.
