The Ministry of Commerce and Investment provided several tips for the consumer to pay attention to when purchasing his car tires, indicating that the consumer must replace the tire when there are cracks or cuts in the tire wall, or if the tire’s lifespan exceeds two years from the date of manufacture, or if bulges are found on the tire tread or wall.
The ministry noted that when purchasing a tire, the consumer should inspect the numbers written in it, as the first two numbers on the right indicate the number of the year of production, and the last two numbers indicate the number of the week of production, noting the width of the tire, the aspect ratio, the tire size, and the speed symbol. , and the heat index.
She explained that the speed symbols mean the maximum speed that the tire can bear, for example if the tire contains the symbol “R”, then the maximum speed of the tire is 170 km, and the symbol “W” indicates that the maximum speed of the tire is 270 km, pointing out that the symbols “A” “B, C” indicates the tire’s tolerance level for high, medium or very low temperatures.
