Magazine: Porsche plans to develop flying taxis
Detlev von Platen, sales director of Porsche, which specializes in the sports car industry, told a German magazine that his Volkswagen subsidiary may develop a flying passenger car to compete with others in a potential market for urban flying taxis and passenger transportation services in this category.
“This will be very important,” Platten was quoted as saying by Automobile magazine. If I drive from Zuffenhausen (where the Porsche factory is) to Stuttgart airport I need at least half an hour if I’m lucky. The trip by flying car will only take three and a half minutes.”
The magazine said that Porsche’s plans indicate that passengers will be able to control some of the flying cars themselves, but they will not need to obtain a pilot’s license, since many of the car’s functions will be automated.
