The Public Transport Authority has recently suspended government services for 400 owners of car rental offices and companies in a number of regions of the Kingdom, including the regions of Riyadh, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Al-Qassim, Hail and Al-Sharqiya, following a number of inspection campaigns carried out by the Authority during the last period in different regions and cities. in the Kingdom.

In an official statement, the authority stated that it detected (3,336) violations during the last quarter of 2016 within the car rental activity only, noting that the most prominent of these violations was the authorities’ practice of the activity without a license or with an expired license or through an unauthorized office, as well as the absence of The general conditions of the leasing contract are in a prominent place for the client and the failure to place the tariff in a place visible to the client. Some offices also require their clients to present a contradiction in proof of identity and driver’s license. Some violations also included insufficient parking spaces for the cars used in the activity, operating a car without the approved insurance coverage, in addition to parking More than two cars in front of the office.

At the end of its statement, the authority confirmed that these inspection campaigns come within its endeavor to control the quality and sophistication of the land transport services provided to the beneficiaries, and to ensure that all service providers in this activity, whether establishments or individuals, adhere to the organizational and operational procedures necessary to carry out the activity.

And she stressed her intention to proceed in this direction, explaining that she is currently coordinating with a number of relevant authorities in the Ministry of Interior to complete the suspension of services automatically in the event of registration of violations, while notifying the violator by text message of the type and value of the violation, and this procedure will ensure in the near future that no action related to transport services is completed. road, traffic, passports, or customs, unless the value of the financial fines due for transportation violations is paid and the situation is rectified in major violations such as working without a license or with an expired license or operating cars without approved insurance coverage.
