“Traffic”: the authority granted to universities is limited to monitoring violations of “parking in the forbidden”
The spokesman for the General Traffic Department, Colonel Tariq Al-Rubaian, explained that the powers granted to university security are only to record parking violations in the prohibited areas, for which the violator is fined not less than 100 riyals and not more than 150 riyals.
Colonel Al-Rubaiaan’s speech came, according to “Okaz”, in response to what sources mentioned, that some universities record many types of violations against students, such as drifting, excessive speed, driving in reverse, and driving without holding a driver’s license.
It is noteworthy that the authority to register parking violations granted by the General Traffic Department to security departments in 24 universities aims to achieve a smooth flow of traffic within these universities, and to contribute to spreading traffic awareness in society.
