An official source at the Ministry of Transport revealed that the ministry is studying amending the regulation regulating taxi activity, so that citizens are allowed to practice this activity in their private cars.
The source explained, according to Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper, that the ministry is moving to open the activity of practicing taxi transportation to citizens, in order to create new job opportunities for them, after this activity was only allowed for establishments and institutions.
On the other hand, the Ministry indicated that it will grant the “Careem” company for passenger transportation using smart applications, today, Wednesday, a license to practice its activity after completing the necessary conditions and controls, noting that seven similar companies are allowed to operate according to the state’s regulations, in order to reduce traffic congestion and save fuel.
