The Director of the General Traffic Department, Major General Abdullah Al-Zahrani, confirmed that the Traffic Department has begun a study to reconsider the prices of vehicle insurance policies, after insurance companies recently raised them under the pretext of the large number of traffic accidents.
Al-Zahrani explained, as quoted by Al-Jazeera newspaper, that the General Traffic Department is studying the situation of high insurance rates in cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and representatives of insurance companies. To match the prices between insurance seekers and companies, and this will be announced soon.
He stated that the automated detection system “Saher” contributed to reducing the rate of serious accidents and deaths, by forcing vehicle drivers to slow down.
